How it began
When I first began working with suppliers to develop herbal tea blends, I quickly realized something important: Although I understood the functions and benefits of many herbs, I knew very little about their origins. I had never seen most of them in their fresh, natural state, nor experienced their true aroma before they were dried and processed. More often than not, I was judging quality based on the prices quoted by suppliers rather than firsthand knowledge.
As I researched the industry and spoke with other small tea brands, I was surprised by what I discovered. Many home-based tea businesses rely heavily on wholesalers, often purchasing pre-made blends and simply rebranding them. Few had firsthand experience with the herbs they were selling or a deep understanding of what defines high-quality tea and botanicals. I knew that wasn't the path I wanted to take.
So, I paused production and decided to start from the ground up. I began traveling to the sources, visiting farms, meeting growers around the world, and learning directly from the people who cultivate these incredible plants. By seeing how herbs are grown, harvested, and processed, I gained a deeper appreciation for the factors that influence their quality, flavor, and character.
This journey is more than about creating a tea blend, it’s about honoring the origin, history, and integrity of every ingredient I use. Through Beauty and her tea, I hope to share this discovery journey and help others learn how to identify and appreciate high-quality tisanes.
That’s how Beauty and Her Tea was born.
